It seems the season of layoffs is still not over as Tech giant Microsoft has plans to join the layoffs spree!

Microsoft Will Fire 11,000 Employees In A Single Go: 3% Workforce Will Be Terminated To Cut Costs

Microsoft Layoffs 11000 Employees

It may happen sooner than we think, reports suggest that Microsoft Layoffs 2023 are on their way.

Microsoft is most likely to cut around 11,000 jobs, which amounts to around 5 percent of the workforce being fired, as per the media reports

Most probably, the engineering department and human resources department are likely to get the most of this hit, according to the report.

So far, the official numbers for the number of job cuts has not been disclosed by the technical major.

Not The First Time

Prior to this, Microsoft reportedly laid off around 1,000 employees across several divisions in the company at the start of October 2022.

Then layoffs impacted around 1 percent of the 2,00,000 workforce at Microsoft.

But now, it gets bigger as around 5 percent of the workforce is expected to be cut, which amounts to around 11,000 employees losing their jobs, as per UK based SKY news.

Please note here that Microsoft is yet to issue an official statement in this regard.

Joining The League

Interestingly, the news of Microsoft Layoffs comes in the headlines days after Amazon began its layoffs.

Amazon announced it is planning to fire just over 18,000 employees recently.

The Amazon CEO, Andy Jassy announced the job cuts as the information regarding the layoffs was leaked earlier.

This latest move from Microsoft also sends an alarming reminder that Tech Layoffs are not over.

It seems that the tech layoffs will continue to show its destruction during 2023 after Meta’s brutal layoff of over 11,000 employees and Twitter layoffs where we saw 50 percent of the workforce fired.

As of June 30, 2022, Microsoft had 2,21,000 full time employees, according to its filing.

Here, 1,22,000 workforce belong to the United States and the remaining  99,000 are employed internationally.
