Mahindra XUV 3XO vs Tata Nexon vs Kia Sonet vs Hyundai Venue

Recently, Mahindra & Mahindra has launched its new Mahindra XUV 3XO (essentially face-lifted XUV 300) in the Indian market.

The new launch by Mahindra features a new design inside-out which comes with improved dynamics, additional features, added safety and much more.

So far, the bookings for the compact SUV are not open yet and scheduled to begin from May 15, 2024.

The deliveries are expected to begin shortly thereafter.

Considering its rivals, the new XUV 3XO is all set to compete with the likes of Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue, in this segment.

This article highlights the comparison of the engine specs and fuel efficiency of the Mahindra XUV 3XO with Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet.

Variants

Presently, this SUV 3XO is offered in nine variants –

including MX1, MX2, MX2 Pro, MX3, MX3 Pro, AX5, AX5 L, AX7 and AX7 L having prices ranging from Rs 7.49 lakh to 15.49 lakh (ex- showroom).

Similarly, Kia Sonet comes in HTE, HTE(O), HTK, HTK(O), HTK Plus, HTX, HTX Plus, GTX Plus and X-line. Its price ranges from Rs 7.99 lakh to 15.7 lakh (ex- showroom).

Hyundi Venue is offered in E, S, S opt, S Plus, S opt, SX and SX Opt having price ranges from Rs 7.94 lakh to 13.48 lakh (ex-showroom).

SUV 3XO’s TATA rival, Nexon is offered with Smart, Smart Plus, Smart Plus S, Pure, Creative, Creative Plus, Fearless and Fearless Plus. Its prices range from Rs 8.15 lakh to 15.8 lakh (ex-showroom).

Powertrain

To start with First, the XUV 3XO is available in three engine options having 117 hp, 300 Nm, 1.5- liter turbo diesel, 111 hp, 200 Nm, 1.2-litre turbo petrol and a 130 hp, 230 nm, 1.2-litre turbo petrol. 

The company claims that its 1.5-litre turbo diesel has fuel efficiency of 20.6 kmpl for manual and 21.2 kmpl for AT. 

Similarly, 111 hp, 1.2-litre turbo petrol has claimed fuel efficiency of 18.9 kmpl for MT and 17.9 kmpl for AT. 

When it comes to the most powerful, 130 hp, 1.2-litre turbo petrol, it has claimed fuel efficiency of 20.1 kmpl for MT and 18.2 kmpl for AT.

In the case of Kia Sonet, again it is offered three engine options inckuding 116 hp, 250 Nm, 1.5-litre turbo diesel, 120 hp, 170 Nm, 1.0-litre turbo petrol and 83 hp, 115 nm, 1.2-litre NA petrol. 

Its 1.5-litre turbo diesel has claimed fuel efficiency of 22.3 kmpl for iMT and 18.5 kmpl for AT. 

The second one, 120 hp, 1.0-litre turbo petrol claims the  fuel efficiency of 18.7 kmpl for iMT and 19.2 kmpl for DCT. 

Lastly, its 1.2-litre NA petrol, has 18.8 kmpl of claimed fuel efficiency with MT transmission. 

If we compare it with its cousin, Hyundai Venue, both of these SUVs are based on the same platform and have the same engine options. 

It is noteworthy here that certified fuel-efficiency figures differ. 

So, its 1.5-litre turbo diesel with iMT has claimed fuel efficiency of 23.7 kmpl. 

Next comes its 1.0-litre turbo petrol with MT and AT transmission which has claimed fuel efficiency of 18.7 kmpl and 18.15 kmpl, respectively.

Its 1.2-litre NA petrol MT has 17.5 kmpl claimed fuel efficiency. 

 SUV 3XO’s Tata rival, Nexon comes with two engine options including 120hp, 170Nm, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and the 115hp, 260Nm, 1.5-litre diesel engine. 

Its turbo petrol with MT transmission has 17.4 kmpl, 17.18 kmpl for AMT and 17 kmpl for DCA (dual-clutch automatic), all figures claimed.

 In the case of diesel MT and AT, the company has claimed efficiency of 23.23 kmpl and 24.08 kmpl, respectively.
