Mahindra is gearing up to introduce its first dedicated offering in the compact SUV space with the BE.05 Electric SUV. Known for its bestselling SUVs, Mahindra has yet to launch a compact SUV, but the BE.05 aims to fill this gap with a stylish and advanced electric vehicle. Test mules of the BE.05 have been spotted frequently, revealing a wealth of details about this upcoming SUV.

Mahindra BE.05 Electric SUV Will Challenge Tata Curvv EV and Citroen Basalt

Sleek Design and Aerodynamic Features

Spy shots of the BE.05, credited to automotive enthusiast Viraj, showcase a sleek and modern design. The aerodynamic profile is evident across the curvy bonnet, heavily raked windshield, and coupe-like sloping roofline. A standout feature is the massive glass roof, which spans almost the entire length and width of the vehicle, likely making it the largest in its segment upon launch.

Competing in the Compact SUV Space

The BE.05 will enter a competitive market segment, going up against the Tata Curvv EV and Citroen Basalt, both of which feature a coupe profile. However, unlike the Basalt, the BE.05 will offer a sunroof, a feature that is popular among buyers. Other competitors include the MG ZS EV, as well as upcoming models like the Maruti eVX and Hyundai Creta EV.

Striking Exterior and Premium Features

Many design elements from the BE.05 Concept have been retained in the production model. The SUV features sharp panelling, large aero wheels, low-profile tires, and flush door handles. The eye-catching C-shaped LED DRLs, a signature feature, are carried over from the concept. The BE.05 also boasts a sporty rear with a prominent tailgate and race-styled twin spoiler, ensuring a commanding road presence.

Luxurious Interior and Advanced Technology

Inside, the BE.05 promises a premium experience with a range of high-end features. Test mules have revealed a hexagonal steering wheel with an illuminated BE logo, highlighting the focus on the new BE brand rather than Mahindra’s traditional twin peaks logo. The SUV will feature dual screens for the infotainment system and instrument cluster, with a third screen expected for the front passenger in the upcoming XUV.e8.

Enhanced Cockpit Experience and Safety Features

A key highlight of the BE.05 is the clear separation between driver and passenger compartments, enhancing the cockpit experience, particularly for the driver. The SUV will come loaded with comfort and convenience features, including an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). In terms of performance, the BE.05 is expected to offer both single motor and dual motor configurations, along with a 60-kWh battery pack that could provide a range of around 500 km.

Conclusion

Mahindra’s BE.05 Electric SUV is set to make a significant impact in the compact SUV market with its sporty design, advanced features, and impressive performance. As Mahindra’s first entry into this segment, the BE.05 is expected to attract considerable attention and give stiff competition to its rivals.
