In a significant development, Maharashtra education authorities have unveiled appointment of 21,678 teachers across 1,258 state schools in classes 1 to 12 under zilla parishad, municipal corporations and private-aided categories. Applications will be managed via the technology-based Pavitra recruitment portal intending transparency.
After delays reconciling vacancies data, the process commences filling 80% of identified teaching posts lying vacant currently across thousands of institutions facing staff crunches for years especially in rural, vernacular-medium settings with upper primary sections worst hit.
Over 18,000 Jobs in Marathi Schools
As per the circular by the state Commissioner of Education Suraj Mandhare, near 18,400 openings exist for Marathi schools indicating thelion’s share. This is followed by around 1,850 roles in Urdu medium schools and 900 among English medium institutions while Tamil, Bengali and Telugu have minimal sub-10 requirements each.
District-level schools boast lion’s share of jobs at 12,500+ whereas 2,950+ placements are slated across municipal corporation establishments and 5,700+ in private-aided entities. Final selection will happen from among 2.3 lakh candidates who appeared for past eligibility tests.
