After a long time there is a new competition in the market which will be giving a tight competition to the popular WhatsApp in India as per the latest update.
A New Competitor For WhatsApp
Yes we are talking about its competitor, Arattai app which is created by Zoho an Indian multinational technology company that makes business software and web-based business tools.

This app commenced its journey far earlier when it first time made its way into app stores in 2021.
But recently, it saw a massive spike in popularity, thanks to endorsement by the Indian government, social media buzz, and its status as a Made in India app.
Moving ahead, this application might challenge Meta’s messaging app WhatsApp considering the fact that there is a 100x surge in user sign-ups and traffic on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
Both of these apps have the same goals as both apps provide platforms to connect with friends and professionals.
Although, there are some differences, particularly in feature sets and privacy offerings.
So, let’s take a quick look at both apps, what they offer, and how Arattai is setting itself apart from WhatsApp and other popular messaging platforms in the market.
Difference Between Arattai And WhatsApp
To start with, both of these apps cover the standard set of core messaging features, including exchanging text messages, sharing media files, sending voice notes, and facilitating voice and video calls.
But it cannot be denied that Arattai has broadened its scope of communication with some notable additions.
- Multi-Device Access – this feature offers connectivity with a wider range of devices, including Android TVs, which WhatsApp does not currently support. The users can use their Arattai account on up to five devices simultaneously.
- Channels and Stories – when it comes to the Arattai, it provides stories and broadcast-style channels, merging messaging with social media elements, similar to WhatsApp’s Status and Channels.
- Pocket Feature – Arattai offers a pocket feature which is a dedicated self-chat space where users can store photos, videos, notes, reminders, and other files for personal organisation. It also sports a dedicated “Meetings” tab for scheduling video meetings, a feature WhatsApp currently lacks but instead ut provides a ‘You’ chat window where users can chat with themselves and save media.
- Accessibility – Arattai is designed to be lightweight and to function smoothly even on low-memory smartphones and older 2G/3G networks. This makes it more accessible for rural users and those with budget devices. WhatsApp, by comparison, consumes more data and system resources.
Besides this, Arattai is completely free to use as Zoho has created it as a freeware, cross-platform application which it promises to keep ad-free.
The software service provider has already assured that the app will not use personal data for targeted advertising, in contrast to Meta’s strategy of integrating ads into its ecosystem.
