In response to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI)‘s recent directive, Jio has launched two affordable voice-only recharge plans aimed at users who primarily use their phones for calling and SMS.

Jio Launches 365, 84 Days Validity Plans With 0 Data: Rs 5.3/Day Charge

TRAI had instructed all telecom operators to offer non-data plans to ensure accessibility for users who do not require internet services. Jio was quick to comply by rolling out new prepaid plans with long validity and no data benefits, focusing purely on essential mobile communication.

Jio’s New Voice-Only Plans: Full Details

Jio has introduced two new voice-only plans:

🔸 ₹458 Plan – 84 Days Validity

  • Unlimited calling to any network in India
  • 1000 free SMS
  • Free national roaming
  • Access to Jio TV and Jio Cinema
  • No mobile data included

This plan is best suited for users who need basic telecom services with medium-term validity.

🔸 ₹1958 Plan – 365 Days Validity

  • Unlimited voice calls across India
  • 3600 free SMS
  • Free national roaming
  • Jio Cinema and Jio TV access
  • No data benefits

A great option for users looking for year-long mobile services without the need for data packs.

Who Should Opt for These Plans?

These new recharge plans are ideal for:

  • Senior citizens or users with minimal internet usage
  • Feature phone users
  • Backup numbers used for calls and SMS only
  • People seeking cost-effective long-term calling solutions

Jio Removes Two Older Plans

With the launch of these new voice-only plans, Jio has discontinued two existing recharge options:

  • ₹479 Plan: Offered 6GB data with 84-day validity
  • ₹1899 Plan: Offered 24GB data with 336-day validity

These data-centric plans have now been removed from Jio’s recharge portfolio, indicating a shift in focus toward customer-centric segmentation.

Final Thoughts

Jio’s new plans reflect a compliance-driven yet consumer-friendly move, ensuring affordable access to basic mobile services. As mobile needs continue to diversify, telecom companies are beginning to tailor offerings based on actual user behavior, not just data consumption.

For those who don’t need internet but want long-term calling and SMS—these Jio plans are worth considering.
