Apple’s next flagship smartphones — the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max — are already generating buzz ahead of their expected September 2026 launch as leaks reveal key specifications, design changes and major upgrades that fans can look forward to this year.

Design & Display: Cleaner Front With Dynamic Island Changes

Leaked images and reports suggest Apple will refine the front design of the iPhone 18 Pro models. Both devices are expected to feature LTPO OLED displays with a 120 Hz refresh rate, similar in size to the current generation — around 6.27–6.3 inches for the Pro and 6.86–6.9 inches for the Pro Max — but with a narrower Dynamic Island or possibly a punch-hole style camera cutout that makes the screen look cleaner and more immersive.

Processing Power: Next-Gen A20 Pro Chip

A major highlight in leaks is the arrival of the next-generation A20 Pro chip, built on a 2 nm process. This new silicon is expected to deliver faster performance, improved energy efficiency and advanced machine-learning capabilities, raising the bar for high-end smartphone computing.

Camera Enhancements: Better Optics & Imaging

Apple’s Pro models are tipped to bring significant camera upgrades. Leaks point to a triple 48 MP camera system with potential variable aperture controls and even DSLR-style teleconverter zoom capabilities. These upgrades could boost low-light performance, optical zoom range and overall image quality — a big focus for creative users and photographers.

Battery & Connectivity: Bigger Cells & 5G Tech

One of the most talked-about leaks is the larger battery expected in the iPhone 18 Pro Max, reportedly crossing the 5 000 mAh threshold — possibly up to 5 100–5 200 mAh — which would be a first for an iPhone and could significantly improve endurance. Combined with the efficient A20 Pro chip and advanced 5G/satellite connectivity, the new models are shaping up to be strong performers in power management.

Launch & Market Expectations

While Apple hasn’t confirmed details yet, most reports point to a launch event in September 2026 where the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max — likely priced at a premium — will debut. Expectations also include possible new colour options, customised RAM/storage configurations and deeper integration with Apple’s broader AI and software ecosystem.
