Apple’s latest iPhone 16 Pro, launched with much fanfare, has encountered an unexpected issue—unresponsive touchscreens. Users have reported that the screen sometimes ignores taps and swipes, leading to problems with basic functions like scrolling, typing, and pressing buttons. The issue is widespread, with several users sharing similar experiences across forums.

iPhone 16 Pro Max Users Facing Touchscreen Issues: Taps, Swipes Not Working

Software Bug or Hardware Fault?

According to reports, the issue appears to stem from a software bug rather than a hardware malfunction. Apple’s iOS touch rejection algorithm is suspected of causing the problem. The bug seems to misinterpret user touches near the edges of the display, leading to ignored inputs. The issue is more pronounced when the device is used without a protective case, as users are more likely to rest their fingers on the thinner bezels.

Thinner Bezels: A Design Trade-Off?

The iPhone 16 Pro boasts one of the slimmest bezel designs in Apple’s history, which enhances the aesthetic appeal and display experience. However, this design change seems to have inadvertently caused touch rejection issues, as users’ hands may accidentally make contact with the edges of the screen. This is particularly problematic when performing everyday actions, such as typing or scrolling through apps like Reddit or Twitter.

User Frustrations and Expectations

Many iPhone 16 Pro users have taken to platforms like Reddit to express their frustrations. One user mentioned, “It has never happened on any other iPhone model but it happens regularly on my 16 Pro Max.” Others have shared similar experiences, with some pointing out that closing and reopening the affected apps can temporarily resolve the problem.

Several users are calling for an over-the-air (OTA) update to address the issue. While no official response from Apple has been made yet, users are hopeful that a software patch will soon fix the touch rejection problem.

Hope for a Quick Fix

While the touchscreen issues are troubling for iPhone 16 Pro users, it seems that a software fix could resolve the problem. As complaints pile up, Apple will likely prioritize releasing an update to address the issue and restore full functionality to the device.
