A minor fire incident occurred on IndiGo flight 6E 2107 from Delhi to Dimapur when a passenger’s power bank caught fire inside the cabin while the aircraft was taxiing. The cabin crew swiftly controlled the situation, following safety protocols, and extinguished the flames within seconds.

Crew Action and Passenger Safety

IndiGo praised its crew for their quick and professional response, ensuring the safety of all passengers and crew members. The airline confirmed that there were no injuries and the situation was handled “as per standard operating procedures.”

“The crew managed the situation quickly by diligently following SOPs, and the incident was controlled within seconds,” IndiGo said in a statement.

Flight Delay and Subsequent Clearance

The flight, operated by an Airbus A320neo, was scheduled to depart at 12:25 PM, but took off at 2:33 PM after safety checks and landed safely in Dimapur at 4:45 PM. Relevant authorities were informed immediately, and the aircraft was cleared for operations after inspection.

Passenger Cooperation and Airline Response

IndiGo thanked passengers for staying calm during the incident and said refreshments were provided to minimise inconvenience. The airline reiterated that personal electronic devices should be stored and handled safely during flights.

The incident comes days after a similar battery fire on an Air China flight, highlighting ongoing safety concerns over lithium-powered devices on aircraft.
