The first solar-powered electric vehicle (EV) in India, Eva, is being offered by Pune-based Vayve Mobility for ₹3.25 lakh (ex-showroom).

Official reservations for the Eva, which debuted at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025, are now available for a nominal fee of ₹5,000.

First Ever Solar Powered EV To Make Its Debut in 2026

The Eva is expected to start deliveries in the second part of 2026.

Additional benefits, such as a three-year free car connectivity period and an extended battery guarantee, will be given to the first 25,000 clients.

“The synergy between our solar panels and electric motor is a result of years of research, allowing Eva to offer an extended range without compromising on performance,” said Saurabh Mehta, Chief Technology Officer at Vayve Mobility, highlighting the vehicle’s ingenuity.

Three battery pack options—9 kWh, 12 kWh, and 18 kWh—are offered for the Eva, which comes in three different models: Nova, Stella, and Vega. Ex-showroom prices start at ₹5.99 lakh.

To lower the initial cost of buying a battery, a rental plan is available for ₹2 every kilometre travelled. A minimum of 600 kilometres must be driven annually for Nova, 800 km for Stella, and 1200 km for Vega.

Without the battery rental plan, the variant prices are:

  • Nova: ₹3.99 lakh
  • Stella: ₹4.99 lakh
  • Vega: ₹5.99 lakh

With the battery rental plan, the prices are lower:

  • Nova: ₹3.25 lakh
  • Stella: ₹3.99 lakh
  • Vega: ₹4.49 lakh

Specifications and Features

According to Vayve, the Eva costs 0.5 per kilometre to operate, which is a lot less than the ₹5 per kilometre cost of a petrol hatchback.

Up to 3,000 km of free solar charging per year are provided by the optional solar roof, which can cover up to 30% of the driving requirements of an average city commuter.

Every day, the Eva’s solar roof panel can increase its range by 10 kilometres.

The powertrain configurations for each variant are as follows:

  • Nova: 9 kWh battery, 16 PS power, 125 km range.
  • Stella: 14 kWh battery, 16 PS power, 175 km range.
  • Vega: 18 kWh battery, 20 PS power, 250 km range.

Rear-wheel drive (RWD) is a feature of every variation. The Eva can accelerate from 0 to 40 km/h in 5 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 70 km/h.

A digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen infotainment system make up the Eva’s twin-screen configuration.

Other noteworthy features include a fixed glass roof, a two-spoke steering wheel, a 6-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, manual air conditioning, and connectivity to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
