Major Price Reduction Ahead of Festive Season
Hyundai Motor India announced on Sunday that it will fully pass on the benefits of recent GST reforms to its customers, offering significant price cuts across its passenger vehicle lineup. The revised pricing will take effect from September 22, just before the festive season, making Hyundai cars and SUVs cheaper by up to Rs 2.4 lakh.

Biggest Impact on Tucson, Wide Cuts Across Lineup
The largest reduction will be seen in the Hyundai Tucson, which will get cheaper by Rs 2,40,303. Other popular models, including the Grand i10 Nios, Aura, Exter, i20, Venue, Verna, Creta, and Alcazar, will also see substantial cuts ranging from Rs 60,000 to over Rs 1.2 lakh. Hyundai expects this move to enhance customer sentiment during the high-demand festive period.
Company Welcomes GST Reforms
Unsoo Kim, Managing Director of Hyundai Motor India Limited, welcomed the government’s decision to reduce GST on passenger vehicles. “We sincerely appreciate the progressive and far-sighted move by the Government of India,” he said, adding that the reform makes personal mobility more affordable and accessible. He further emphasized Hyundai’s commitment to supporting India’s growth journey by delivering cars and SUVs that offer value, innovation, and driving pleasure.
GST 2.0: New Structure Explained
The GST changes, announced at the 56th GST Council meeting, introduce a new tax structure for passenger vehicles. Small cars under four metres in length with petrol engines up to 1,200cc or diesel engines up to 1,500cc will now attract 18% GST, down from 28%. Larger cars with bigger engines will face a 40% GST rate, but without the earlier additional cess.
Boost for Auto Industry
Hyundai said the reforms, described as GST 2.0, will reduce the overall cost of owning a car and help accelerate demand in the auto sector. The company expects the new pricing structure to drive sales momentum during the festive season, while boosting long-term customer confidence in India’s automotive market.
