Hyundai Creta Beats Kia Seltos, Tata Nexon To Become #1 Compact SUV In India: Check Top Compact SUVs Of India (Feb Sales)

The sales of the compact SUV segment in February 2023 have been recorded at 35,383 units in February 2023, which is a huge increase from 24,460 units in the same period last year.

However, the sales of the cars in the same segment were a lot more, as much as 42,789 units. 

Sales of Compact SUVs Increase This February; Creta and Seltos Record Positive Growth

Only the Creta and Seltos have recorded positive YoY growth in February, excluding the Grand Vitara and Toyota HyRyder, which are new entrants.

Only the Grand Vitara, Volkswagen Taigun, and MG Astor have positive growth in terms of month over month sales. With Honda’s upcoming new SUV, the compact SUV market will become even more competitive later this year.

Even though Grand Vitara isn’t far behind, Hyundai Creta is still the most popular compact SUV. 10,421 Cretas were sold in February 2023. Compared to the 9,606 units sold in February of last year, the year over year growth is 8.48%. In February, Creta’s market share was 29.45%. Comparing MoM growth to the 15,037 units sold in January 2023, there has been a decline of -30.70%.

A million unit sales milestone for Creta is getting closer. By January 2023, 8.3 lakh units had already been produced. Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, with sales of 9,183 units, is ranked second on the list.

Grand Vitara MoM Growth At 6.01%

In comparison to the 8,662 units sold in January 2023, the Grand Vitara MoM growth is also favorable at 6.01%. With sales of 8,012 units in February, the Kia Seltos is in third place. When compared to the 6,575 units sold during the same period last year, year-over-year growth is at 21.86%. In February 2023, Seltos’ market share was 22.64%. Comparing MoM growth to the 10,470 units sold in January 2023, there has been a decline of -23.48%.

The facelift version of Seltos, which includes significant updates like ADAS and a panoramic sunroof, will soon be available.

Although sales are not as strong as those of its sibling Grand Vitara, the HyRyder has become a well-liked option in the compact SUV market. 3,307 units were sold in February, with a 9.35% market share. Comparing MoM growth to the 4,194 units sold in January 2023, there has been a decline of -21.15%. HyRyder also provides a CNG option, with prices beginning at Rs 13.23 lakh.
