Household brand from Honda, Activa is all set to launch its electric scooter in India.
Let’s dive deep into the details and anticipated specifications for the brand.
Introducing Activa EV – Honda’s Modern Take on Urban Mobility
On the design aspect, the electric variant shall maintain the iconic Activa design and embrace some of the contemporary elements for a distinctive identity. A fully digital instrument cluster might be featured in Activa EV, with focus to rider comfort. This digital console shall provide essential information like speed, battery level, and range, ensuring a modern and convenient riding experience.
To be priced between ₹1.00 Lakh to ₹1.20 Lakh (ex-showroom), Activa plans to capture attention in the market, potentially leveraging government subsidies to appeal to budget-conscious electric scooter enthusiasts.
On a single charge, the range of the electric vehicle is claimed to be 100 kms. With this range, the target market for Honda are the urban commuters and individuals with daily errands which resemble a typical city usage pattern.
Expected to deliver a top speed of 50 km/h, this scooter is deemed to be fit for those who commute around the city or ones who take a leisurely ride on the weekends.
A regenerative braking system might also be featured in the scooter which in turn would charge the battery while braking and in turn further increase the battery range.
Minimizing downtime and increasing convenience, Activa Electric is expected to adopt a swappable battery system.
Poised for Competition in the Electric Scooter Market
Positioned to lock horns with Ola S1, Ather 450X, TVS iQube, and Bajaj Chetak Electric, it is on the back of its brand and features like a digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, LED lighting, and sufficient storage space that the Activa is touted to stand out.
With the product vision of offering a durable and enjoyable riding experience, Honda rides high on its quality as well as reliability and is working towards developing the electric version in a way that aligns with performance and its established reputation.
As per industry veterans and insiders, the scooter shall be launched anywhere between late 2024 and early 2025.
