Foxconn To Manufacture iPhones in Karnataka By Next April
The world’s largest contract electronics manufacturer, Foxconn aims to produce 20 million iPhones annually at the plant located in Devanahalli, on the outskirts of Bengaluru, the capital city and a prominent tech hub in the state.
Apple has been diversifying its production away from China due to the strict COVID-related restrictions that disrupted the manufacturing of new iPhones and other devices in the country. Additionally, the company seeks to minimize any potential negative impact on its business resulting from the ongoing tensions between Beijing and Washington.
The move to establish iPhone manufacturing in India aligns with Apple’s strategy of diversifying its supply chain and reducing its reliance on a single manufacturing base. India offers advantages such as a large consumer market, favorable government incentives, and lower production costs.
This development highlights India’s growing importance as a manufacturing hub for smartphones and other electronic devices. It not only boosts employment opportunities but also contributes to the country’s goal of becoming a global manufacturing powerhouse. The expansion of Apple’s manufacturing capabilities in India is likely to have a positive impact on the local economy and strengthen the country’s position in the global electronics manufacturing industry.
