All employees of Flipkart are now required to report to work five days a week, thus ending the company’s work from home (WFH) policy.

The ruling eliminates a flexible work option that was implemented during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic and is applicable to all employees, regardless of function.

Flipkart Ends Work From Home Policy For All Employees

Like many other businesses at the time, the Walmart-owned corporation began permitting WFH in 2020 as a response to the epidemic.

Over the past year, Flipkart has been progressively promoting a return to work, as confirmed by reports.

As more personnel returned to the workplace, the organization reported better teamwork, cooperation, and production.

According to Flipkart, the majority of its workers—including field and gig workers—have always operated from their designated locations.

Over the past year, Flipkart has been bringing office attendance back to pre-COVID levels at the corporate headquarters.

As per the company spokesperson, “By returning to office, we aim to foster a strong sense of community for new hires and existing employees; and a shared focus on our common goals.”

According to the corporation, the new policy aims to strengthen staff camaraderie and bring everyone together around common objectives.

Last year, Flipkart began the process by requesting that senior staff members—vice presidents and up—attend work more frequently.

As per reports, the business will roll out the new WFO strategy in stages over the next months.

Employees will continue to get a set amount of WFH days, with few deviations based on work categories.

With this action, Flipkart joins businesses like as Amazon and Meesho that require most or all of their workers to return to work.

Amazon Ends Work From Home: All Employees Need To Work From Office, 5 Days A Week

Amazon’s plan to reinstate its pre-pandemic office work policy was to begin on January 2, 2025, requiring corporate employees to return to the office five days a week. The move was announced by CEO Andy Jassy in a memo shared with employees months prior.

Jassy explained that the goal was to foster stronger collaboration, innovation, and employee connection — elements he said were crucial to improving customer satisfaction and sustaining business success. The decision marked a clear shift away from the hybrid work models that became widespread during the pandemic.
