With the return of normalcy after the Corona virus spread, many companies are calling their employees back to the workplace.
Meta Implementing Work From Office Policing
Earlier, employees at Meta Platforms, the company previously known as Facebook, conveyed to its staff in June that they must attend office three days a week from September 5.
The managers will have to follow up with their team members on a monthly basis.
This is to ensure that the policy is being complied with, said the lead HR Lori Goler.
Disciplinary Actions On Not Following The Policy
The owner of the social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Threads and Whatsapp said that those not following the office mandate shall be ‘disciplined,’.
To the extent that they may even lose their jobs, Lori Goler, the head of human resources at Meta, warned in an August 17 post on Workplace, the company’s internal forum, as per the media report.
In the post, Lori Goler noted that employees assigned to an office must report at the assigned workplace.
They must participate in in-person work at least thrice a week, Goler said.
It is noteworthy here that the mandate does not cover people who have already been authorized to function from a fully remote location, or online.
The managers must follow up with team members on a monthly basis in order ensure that the policy is being complied with, she said.
According to Goler, “Managers will review badge and Status Tool information and follow up with those who did not meet the requirement, subject to local law and works council requirements. As with other company policies, repeated violations may result in disciplinary actions, up to and including a performance rating drop, and ultimately, termination, if not addressed.”
New Work From Office Policy From Meta
Most new staffers, except for the ones recruited for fully remote roles, are required to work from the office, as per this new work from office policy for Meta employees.
Notably, after completion of 18 months, if there are positive performance reviews then employees can apply to work remotely.
Here ‘fully remote’ means that for such individuals, Meta will not be maintaining desk space, as their physical presence is not needed for more than four days every two months, as per Goler’s memo.
