[Exclusive Interview] This Niche OTT Platform Is Focussed On Regional, International Content, Dubbed In Hindi

Recently, we interacted with Mr. Aneesh Arjun Dev, Founder & Managing Director, Dollywood Play – a dedicated OTT platform for Hindi dubbed content aims to bring the best of mass entertainment content (movies & series) across a wide range of genres like Action, Adventure, Thriller, Horror, Comedy, Love, Drama.

1. Inspiration behind the launch of Dollywood Play, and what has the experience been like since October 2019? Furthermore, what distinguishes Dollywood Play from its competitors?  

Dollywood Play, an ad-free OTT platform, ensures a premium streaming experience for its audience by offering an extensive collection of South Indian and International films dubbed in Hindi. What sets Dollywood Play apart from its competitors is its affordable pricing, providing a diverse range of well-curated dubbed films in high-definition. The platform categorizes movies into playlists across various genres such as romance, thriller, action, and drama. The journey has been successful thus far, and the platform looks forward to expanding its library with more titles, offering users an even larger selection of content in the future.

2. What are the challenges you’ve faced in building your business?

Localizing South Indian and Hollywood movies into Hindi poses no significant challenge for us, thanks to our skilled and experienced team. They adeptly handle the localization process, understanding the nuances of the Hindi-speaking market’s tastes and preferences.

3. Which kind of business model does Dollywood Play use—a subscription-based model or one of free access? In what way does the platform generate revenue?  

Dollywood Play sustains its revenue through a subscription-based model, providing users with exclusive access to its content. Additionally, the platform extends its reach by being part of bundled packages on prominent OTT aggregator platforms, including Airtel Xtreme, OTT Play, Sabot, and DOR Play. This strategic inclusion in bundled services enhances the platform’s accessibility, making it available to a wider audience through diverse channels.

4. In what ways does Dollywood Play plan to expand its content library in the future, and are there specific genres or types of content that the platform aims to focus on?

Our primary focus is expanding the current content library on the Dollywood Play app, and we welcome a diverse array of genres, including Love/Romance, Comedy, Action, Drama, Thriller, and more. We aim to keep our audience engaged and captivated, catering to a broad spectrum of preferences. By consistently adding titles across various genres, we ensure that users find compelling and varied content on the app, enhancing their overall streaming experience. This commitment to diversity and quality content reinforces our dedication to providing an enriching and entertaining platform for our audience to enjoy a wide range of cinematic experiences.

5. Can you tell us about any collaborations or partnerships Dollywood Play has done with content creators, production houses, or other entities to strengthen its library of multilingual dramas dubbed in Hindi? 

As of now, Dollywood Play hasn’t engaged in specific collaborations with content creators or production houses. However, the platform is actively in the process of establishing such partnerships, reflecting a commitment to expanding its content offerings and fostering relationships within the entertainment industry.

6. Does Dollywood Play have plans to introduce original content on the platform in the near future? 

Indeed, there are plans to introduce exclusive and original titles to enrich the Dollywood Play library/catalog. This strategic move aims to enhance the platform’s unique offerings, providing users with distinctive and compelling content that sets Dollywood Play apart in the competitive landscape of digital streaming services.
