Recently, we interacted with Mr. Manoj Tayal, Managing Director, UKB Electronics – a leading manufacturer and supplier of wires, cables, wiring harness, power cords, mobile accessories and many other electrical & electronic products in India and global market since 1996.

  1. Could you provide an insightful overview of the journey undertaken by UKB Electronics and the remarkable trajectory of its growth?

In 2004, UKB embarked on its journey as a private limited company, equipped with a small manufacturing unit. Over the ensuing years, UKB has evolved into one of India’s premier electrical and electronics manufacturers, boasting nine strategically located facilities across five states. This transformation is attributed to the unwavering vision of our Managing Director, Mr. Manoj Tayal, whose leadership steered the company’s growth.

Initially, our operations centred around one product, one location, one segment, and one customer. Today, our endeavours have diversified, encompassing multiple products, numerous plants, a wide array of customers, and various market segments.

Throughout this journey, our focus has remained steadfast on creating a business environment marked by risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, robust R&D capabilities, and automation, all aimed at delivering top-notch quality and meeting customer requirements.

In the fiscal year 2022-2023, UKB achieved a remarkable revenue milestone of Rs. 550 Crores, along with expanding our presence to over 14 countries through exports.

  1. Who are key stakeholders actively shaping the company’s course and outcomes?

 Mr. Manoj Tayal and Mr. Vinay Tayal, both engineering graduates from Bangalore Institute of Technology, initiated this business venture and have steered it to its present stature.

Now, in its second generation, Mr. Manik Tayal and Mr. Aayush Tayal, equipped with master’s degrees from Thunderbird School of Business, USA, and IBS Pune, bring their formidable vision to the company. They are dedicated to expanding the company’s footprint in exports and the strategic electronics sector. Under their guidance, the company is poised for exponential operational growth.

  1. Can you provide information regarding the funding particulars and details pertaining to the investors involved?

At present, the company’s working capital and capital expenditure needs are met through a combination of internal accruals and bank financing. The entire business is presently under the ownership of the promoter family.

  1. Share insights into the range of products and services offered by UKB Electronics to its target audience?

The company specialises in the manufacturing of electrical and electronic products, including power cords, wire harnesses, remotes, PCBA, and specialised wires and cables. Its target audience encompasses a diverse range of sectors, including aerospace, defence, navy, railways, the electric vehicle industry, white goods industry, and the automotive sector.

  1. Provide information about the geographic footprint of UKB Electronics’ operational centres, along with any forthcoming plans for expansion and growth?

The company maintains a network of nine manufacturing facilities strategically spread across five states, namely Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, and Goa. It successfully exports its products to over 14 countries, predominantly within the USA and European markets. Additionally, the company has ambitious plans to set up new manufacturing plants in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Goa, and Rajasthan within the coming 2-3 years.

  1. What is the present employee headcount within the company, and could you also share information regarding the gender ratio among the workforce?

The company is currently partnered with a workforce of over 3,000 individuals, encompassing both white-collar and blue-collar positions, including contractual staff. Notably, women constitute 40% of the total workforce.

  1. Can you please highlight significant accreditations that UKB has garnered over its course of operation?

UKB holds accreditations from prestigious organisations such as Indian Railways, the Indian Navy, and the Indian Defense sector.

Additionally, UKB’s product offerings have garnered numerous global approvals, including UL in the USA, VDE in Germany, ASTA in the UK, GCC in the Gulf region, SPRING in Singapore, PSE in Japan, and NSW in Australia. These esteemed international certifications have been acquired over several years, with UKB standing as the sole company in India to hold such recognitions within its operating product category. These certifications are a result of rigorous product testing in their respective countries.

Furthermore, the company has been certified with ISO standards, holding ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 accreditations.
