An owner of an Ather received a maintenance bill for a shocking Rs 8,000 even though the bike had no significant damage.

Why exactly was he charged this insane amount? Let’s find out!

Electric Scooter Owner Gets Rs 8000 Service Bill: Claims 10-Yr Old Car Has Less Expenses

Electric Bike Ather Owner Billed For Rs. 8000!

It appeared that the problem was caused by typical wear and tear on parts such as the electric motor, fans, and pulleys.

He posted on X, “They said EVs have a low maintenance fee because it has fewer moving parts

The EV: 🤦🤦🤦

@atherenergy”

With 13,398 kilometers on the odometer, the Ather electric scooter in question is about 4 years old.

The large cost is unexpected because, at this point, neither ICE nor electric scooters typically require major maintenance.

Because of Ather’s well-known dependability and excellent quality, people are deeply disappointed by these problems.

After a billing error P014 was reported, the service center discovered several other issues.

Impacted Parts Came With One Year Warranty

The impacted parts had a one-year warranty, which meant expensive replacements were required.

The owner, who purchased Ather scooters early on, voiced dissatisfaction at not receiving the Ather Service pack for two months, which would have decreased the cost of maintenance.

“The only gripe I’ve is, I’ve been trying to get the Ather Service pack for the last 2 months and never able to get that. With that, I would have got a cheaper bill.

The other gripe is your service team asking me to delete this tweet!”

Similar experiences from other users suggest that one of the primary problems with the first-generation Ather scooters is their high maintenance expenses.

A customer with a scooter that had traveled 27,392 km reported paying Rs 6,646 for maintenance, while another user reported having to replace a mid-assembly for Rs 16,000.

Several automobile owners reported that their auto repair costs were less than the Rs 8,000 that Ather service facilities demanded.

Another owner of an Ather tweeted that the servicing cost on his ten-year-old car was less.

The owners of Ather have previously voiced their displeasure with the high cost of maintenance; in one instance, they were compared to that of a Kia EV6.
