On September 1 of last year, the Traffic Sentinel app was relaunched under the name Traffic Prahari with the goal of enlisting the public in traffic enforcement initiatives.

The Delhi Traffic Police created the app, which enables users to report a variety of traffic infractions they see in real time.
Delhi Traffic Police Empowers Citizens with Relaunched ‘Traffic Prahari’ App
Users must register with their phone number and one-time password (OTP) before they can download it from the Google Play Store.
Users must snap a picture of the infraction and upload it along with the time and place information in order to report it.
The submission is examined by a verification team stationed at the Todapur headquarters to make sure it is authentic and unmotivated by personal grievances.
The owner of the offending vehicle receives a challan, or fine notice, if the report is verified.
There are four prize categories in the app’s citizen reward program, which offers monthly cash awards ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹50,000.
Traffic Prahari was downloaded 14,526 times and received 10,114 complaints in the first three months following its relaunch.
Report Traffic Violations in Real Time: From Helmetless Riding to Red-Light Jumping
Violations like riding without a helmet, parking illegally on sidewalks, driving against traffic, defective license plates, failing to wear seatbelts, red-light jumping, and more can be reported by the public.
Within the app, users can monitor the progress of their complaint.
We stated in 2024 that beginning on September 1, the public would be able to help create safer roads and receive significant incentives for their efforts. The program was a component of a larger action plan to enhance traffic control and lower infractions throughout the city.
The public can report traffic infractions under the Traffic Prahari scheme by using the app to upload images, videos, and pertinent information. In addition to providing details like the kind of infraction, the time, place, and registration number of the vehicle, users must register their mobile numbers. Following verification of the reports by the Delhi Police, cash prizes will be given to the top four contributors each month.
The Delhi Police has announced a monthly reward system to promote broad participation. The first place winner will receive Rs 50,000, the second place winner will receive Rs 25,000, the third place winner will receive Rs 15,000, and the fourth place winner will receive Rs 10,000. This strategy encourages community-driven efforts to lower traffic infractions while also providing incentives for public participation.
