Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has launched a one-year Tourism and Heritage Fellowship Programme aimed at engaging youth in preserving and promoting Delhi’s rich historical and cultural legacy. The initiative, to be implemented by the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC), will select 40 young professionals annually, each receiving a monthly stipend of ₹50,000, according to an NDTV report. The announcement was made during the “DELIGHT for Delhi” Summit, organized by the Delhi Tourism Department in collaboration with Invest India, and was also attended by Delhi Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra.

Empowering Youth to Preserve and Promote Delhi’s Tourism and Heritage
Selected fellows will participate in a variety of tourism-related activities such as conducting heritage walks, leading guided tours, content creation, tourism marketing, and event coordination. They will also volunteer at prominent public spots like Dilli Haat and the Garden of Five Senses, and assist in managing film shoots and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) events.
The programme is designed to leverage the creativity of Delhi’s youth while strengthening the city’s tourism infrastructure and building a strong connection between the government and future cultural ambassadors. The initiative not only promotes civic engagement but also offers practical exposure in tourism management.
Fellowship to Train Youth in Heritage Tourism and Cultural Development
Applications for the fellowship are expected to open soon, with the first cohort receiving training this year. Upon completion, fellows will be awarded an official certificate. This programme marks a major step in integrating young talent into Delhi’s heritage and tourism promotion efforts while creating new opportunities for cultural development.
