Renault India has officially confirmed that an updated version of its popular hatchback, the Renault Kwid, is in the works. The Kwid, known for being one of the most affordable and stylish entry-level cars in India, will soon receive a facelift. While Renault has not yet revealed specifics, the update is expected to include cosmetic enhancements, improved interiors, and possibly better connectivity features to appeal to first-time car buyers.

New-Gen Duster Coming Soon
The bigger news, however, is the much-awaited comeback of the Renault Duster in India. Once a pioneer in the compact SUV segment, the new-generation Duster is set for launch, with a price announcement expected in the coming months. The SUV has already been spotted testing on Indian roads, giving enthusiasts a glimpse of its refreshed design.
Design and Interior Upgrades
Spy shots and early details suggest that the Duster will feature Y-shaped inserts for the AC vents, a new three-spoke steering wheel, a floating touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital driver’s display, and a reworked centre console. These updates align the SUV with modern customer expectations and make it more competitive against established rivals.
Segment Competition
The new Duster will directly take on heavyweights in the compact SUV category such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, MG Astor, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Renault is also preparing a three-row derivative of the Duster, along with a sibling SUV under the Nissan brand, to expand its footprint in India’s booming SUV market.
Renault’s Revival Plans
The launch of the updated Kwid and the new-gen Duster underscores Renault’s intent to revive its Indian portfolio. With increasing competition and shifting customer demand toward SUVs, Renault’s strategy seems focused on balancing affordability with advanced features. If executed well, these launches could put Renault back on the growth track in India.
