Transportation
The Delhi government has banned the entry of heavy goods vehicles, barring those carrying essentials, in the city from four borders including Singhu.
Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot said, “Entry of Heavy Goods Vehicles has been banned from Singhu Border, Badarpur Border, Loni Border and Chilla Border as a precautionary measure in view of abnormally rising water level of Yamuna River.”
“On the other hand, interstate buses coming from Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand will stop at Singhu border instead of going to ISBT Kashmeri Gate,” he added.
There is no restriction on vehicles carrying essential services such as food and petroleum products.
Acute water shortage
Kejriwal announced the shutting down of water treatment plants.
Wazirabad, Chandrawal and Okhla water treatment plants were shut down, which could affect the water supply in the national capital.
The authorities warned citizens of a water crisis for 1-2 days and advised water rationing.
The CM said, “There is going to be an acute shortage of water since three treatment plants are closed. There could be a shortage of 25 per cent water so ration will have to be done.”
