A new EV SUV is being promoted as capable of delivering up to 1,700 km of range on a full charge, positioning it as a potential disruptor in the EV market.
Chinese electric carmaker Xpeng Motors has introduced a hybrid version of its new G7 SUV.

Xpeng G7 Hybrid SUV Teased as a 1,700 km Range EV Market Disruptor
The G7 is presented as a response to range anxiety, a common concern among EV owners, especially in India where charging infrastructure is still developing.
Besides its design, the G7’s main highlight is its claimed driving range of 1,794 km, which is compared to the distance between Delhi and Mumbai to emphasize its long-range capability.
Alongside the G7, Xpeng has also introduced the P7+ sedan.
The P7+ sedan is estimated to offer a range of up to 1,550 km.
Prices for the P7+ start at $27,000, which is approximately ₹22.6 lakh.
Xpeng Sales Surge Past 429,000 Units, More Than Doubling Yearly Growth
Xpeng sold over 429,000 vehicles last year, more than double its sales from the previous year.
The G7 SUV is described as having one of the longest ranges in the world for an SUV.
The vehicle includes a 60-litre fuel tank and a 55.8 kWh battery to maintain its extended range.
A small petrol engine is used to charge the battery rather than directly powering the car.
The G7 is expected to be priced around ₹23.5 lakh, with a listed price of about $28,000.
Xpeng is also working on futuristic technologies, including a humanoid robot integrated with artificial intelligence.
The company claims such robots could become widely used in daily life between 2028 and 2038.
The brand has not shown any clear plans to launch the G7 SUV in India yet.
