Indian Railways is preparing to inaugurate two premium train services—Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat—from Saharsa, Bihar. This major development is part of the government’s ongoing push to improve rail connectivity in the state, especially ahead of the upcoming elections.

PM Modi to Flag Off Amrit Bharat Train
According to reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially flag off the Saharsa–New Delhi Amrit Bharat Express from Madhubani on April 24. This will be the second Amrit Bharat train in Bihar and is expected to run via Darbhanga and Sitamarhi.
The train rake has already reached Bihar, and a successful trial run has been conducted by the Samastipur Railway Division.
Vande Bharat Express from Saharsa
In parallel, preparations are in full swing to run the Vande Bharat Express from Saharsa to New Delhi via a different route. This high-speed train will pass through Barauni, Samastipur, Muzaffarpur, Hajipur, Patliputra, DDU (Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction), and Lucknow before reaching the national capital.
Officials confirmed that the train will cover the journey from Muzaffarpur to Delhi in just 13 hours, offering a fast and convenient option for travelers from the region.
Infrastructure Upgrades at Saharsa
The Samastipur Railway Division has started developing the basic infrastructure at Saharsa station to maintain both trains. The Senior Divisional Electrical Engineering Department has begun modifying and installing the overhead equipment (OHE) needed for seamless operations.
This marks a significant step in transforming Saharsa into a key maintenance and operations hub for modern trains in Bihar.
Strategic Move Ahead of Elections
With elections due later this year in Bihar, the launch of these prestigious trains signals the central government’s intent to strengthen regional connectivity and infrastructure. The improved train services are expected to boost mobility, reduce travel time, and enhance economic opportunities in the region.
Conclusion
The upcoming launch of Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat trains from Saharsa is great news for Bihar. These services promise faster, more comfortable travel and are a big step toward modernizing the railways in eastern India.
