In a recent development, Samsung is all set to launch its flagship Galaxy S24 Ultra with a new battery tech from the EV industry.
New Battery Tech For Galaxy S24 Ultra
The South Korean tech giant is planning to incorporate the technology used in electric cars like Audi EVs to give a boost to the battery life of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, according to a report by The Elec.
Prior to this, there were speculations that the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will come with a GPU faster than that of the iPhone 15.
Samsung’s SDI division, which is the company’s R&D team for batteries, is looking at stacked batteries for the smartphone business, as per this report.
It is noteworthy here that this tech does not change the chemistry of the battery.
Rather, it tweaks the arrangement of cells to give high energy density and offer high capacity in the same volume.
The same technology is used by Audi’s Q8 e-Tron in order to fit a 114kWh battery in the vehicle.
Further, this report reveals that Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will get around 10 percent improvement in density.
There are chances that the smartphone maker might use the same space capacity as the predecessor to fit in an improved pack.
So, most probably the upcoming phone battery will be offered with a larger capacity when compared to Galaxy S23 Ultra’s 5,000 mAh unit.
At present, two Chinese battery brands are rumored to create stacked gear for Samsung.
Rumors also have it that these two brands are opening their offices in South Korea to link with Samsung SDI more effectively.
Shenzhen Yinghe Tech is one of the two partners which has already given its stacking tools to Samsung SDI after running a pilot line for the new production process at a factory in Tianjin.
New Camera Setup For Galaxy S24 Ultra
Beside the battery, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is also expected to come with a new camera setup.
Reportedly the company is planning to ditch one camera from the device, which will likely be a 3x telephoto lens.
But this will bring down the camera sensors to three.
Although, Samsung is most likely to “merge” the telephoto lens into a periscope lens to offer an appropriate zoom level, according to Tipster Ice Universe.
