Ather Energy has introduced three new programs to boost the uptake of electric vehicles (EVs): Battery as a Service (BaaS), an Extended Comprehensive Warranty (ECW), and an expanded Assured Buyback program.

Ather's Electric Scooters Become Upto 30% Cheaper With Battery As A Service

According to the company, EV buyers’ top three concerns are high upfront costs, uncertainty about resale value, and warranty-related issues.

Ather Energy Launches BaaS, Extended Warranty, and Assured Buyback to Drive EV Adoption

The Ather Rizta model is now available to customers with BaaS for ₹75,999 (ex-showroom Lucknow), which is 30% less than the regular purchase model.

The ex-showroom price of the 450 Series scooters is now ₹84,341, and there are various battery usage plans available each month.

Customers are charged according to the number of kilometers they travel under BaaS, and the battery’s cost is recouped over three to four years, depending on the customer’s preference.

With a 48-month plan that costs ₹1 per kilometer and requires a minimum of 1,000 kilometers of usage per month, the BaaS payment system is usage-based.

Ather Energy CBO Says India’s Expanding EV Market Brings Diverse Customer Needs and Challenges

According to Ravneet S. Phokela, Chief Business Officer at Ather Energy, the growing EV market in India is attracting clients with a wide range of demands and difficulties.

He added, “With BaaS, ECW and Assured Buyback, we aim to address major barriers that exist for customers when purchasing a new EV scooter. As one of the leading players, we stay committed to making it easier for families to experience the benefits of EVs.”

More buyers are now covered by Ather’s expanded Assured Buyback program.

Depending on the number of kilometers driven, the program promises up to 60% of the scooter’s value after three years and up to 50% after four.

The company said, “This addresses one of the most common concerns among potential EV buyers and the uncertainty around resale values in a rapidly evolving market.”

The battery and eleven other important parts are covered against manufacturing flaws for a maximum of five years or 60,000 kilometers, whichever comes first, under Ather’s Extended Comprehensive Warranty (ECW).
