Apple has now announced the launch of a new feature, Apple Watch for Kids in India.
With this feature, family members and kids without iPhones can still use the Apple Watch’s safety features and capabilities.
This feature will be available on Apple Watch SE models and models starting with Series 4 and up and it gives kids some independence while enabling parents to maintain a connection with them.

- Location Monitoring: Using the Find People app, parents may keep tabs on their child’s whereabouts.
- Customized Location Alerts: Parents get notifications according to where their kids are.
- App Store Access: Children can download age-appropriate apps with parental controls from the App Store.
- Schooltime Mode: By limiting app access and turning on Do Not Disturb, this mode reduces distractions during school hours.
How to Use It:
Using their own iPhone, parents can configure an Apple Watch for their child and a unique cell plan for the watch is required.
The child will have a unique Apple ID which giives access to functions including photo albums synchronized from the parent’s iPhone, calendars, and reminders.
Parental Controls:
- Contact Approval: Parents have the authority to decide with whom their kids can communicate.
- Content Restrictions: By using the Ask to Buy and Content Restrictions features, parents may control app downloads and establish limits.
- Health Data Sharing: With consent, parents can access their child’s health and activity records on their iPhone by using the Health app.
Availability:
The Apple Watch for Kids is available in India on Apple Watch SE cellular versions and Apple Watch Series 4 or later variants. However, it requires an iPhone 6s or later to be compatible for the first setup.
For cellular connectivity, a supported carrier’s wireless service plan is required; in India, at the moment, Jio is the sole option.
