Apple Set to Launch First Foldable iPhone as OLED Display Production Begins

A dedicated production line has been established at the A3 factory in Asan, South Korea, with a capacity to produce up to 15 million 7-inch foldable OLED panels annually.

Apple is expected to produce 6 to 8 million foldable iPhones in 2026.

The foldable iPhone is expected to have an inward-folding design with a 7-inch OLED display, 4:3 aspect ratio, and crease-free surface.

The design could feature a super-thin 4.5mm profile, Touch ID instead of Face ID, and a dual rear camera system with wide and ultra-wide lenses.

The device is expected to be powered by Apple’s A20 chipset.

According to rumours, Apple generally uses a wide supplier network, but with this foldable gadget, Samsung Display is expected to be the single panel provider.

Samsung’s contribution is credited to its experience with commercial foldable devices from 2019 and previous collaborations with Apple on OLED panels for the iPhone X.

Foldable iPhone Likely to Launch with iPhone 18 Series in 2026

The foldable iPhone may be launched alongside the iPhone 18 series in 2026.

It is projected to have a hefty price, probably around $2,000.

The foldable iPhone is now in production and may be available only in certain areas due to its high price.

This new device could provide Apple fans another alternative in the lineup, potentially improving design, performance, and optimisation.

We had previously reported that Apple is preparing to enter the foldable smartphone segment, with leading analyst Ming-Chi Kuo forecasting the launch of its first foldable iPhone in 2026. Production is expected to begin in late Q3 or early Q4 of 2025. The project is being led by Foxconn, but key components, including the highly anticipated hinge, are still being finalized.
