As per a report, Apple Inc is all set to eliminate small number of roles from its corporate teams. As per the report, it will be people from the ‘development and preservation teams’
Though it is not clear about the number of job cuts, but the tech giant confirmed that the number could be very small.
These employees are responsible for the upkeep of retail stores.
Apple Plans To Streamline, Small Number of Roles To be Eliminated
Apple, as per the reports, plans to streamline rather than cutting the jobs off. As per the phone maker, these employees can later reapply for these roles.
As per the reports, those who do not get the jobs shall be getting 4 months of severance pay.
Other than this, some management roles could also be trimmed and the tech giant will likely hire some of these employees as individual contributors.
In these cases, they shall not be able to withdraw the same remuneration that they did in the present roles.
Speaking of the workforce, Apple had 1.64 lakh employees as of September 2022. While several other tech giants pumped up their headcount post pandemic, Apple stayed away from expansion and so far it has also managed to avoid major layoffs.
Citing global headwinds and restructuring, employees in the count of thousands have been laid off by Amazon, Meta – the parent company of Facebook, Google, Microsoft and several other tech giants.
