Apple achieved nearly $9 billion in sales in India in fiscal year 2025, marking a 13% year-on-year growth from $8 billion. The majority of this revenue came from iPhone sales, which continue to dominate Apple’s performance in the Indian market despite a global slowdown in smartphone demand.

iPhone Leads the Charge
According to IDC, Apple shipped 5.9 million iPhones in the first half of 2025, registering 21.5% annual growth. The iPhone 16 emerged as the most popular model. This growth comes as India’s smartphone market shipped 70 million devices in the same period, growing 0.9% YoY.
Retail Expansion Across India
Apple is rapidly strengthening its retail presence in India. After opening flagship stores in Mumbai and New Delhi in 2023, Apple has now added outlets in Bengaluru and Pune. Stores in Noida and Mumbai are scheduled to open early next year, reflecting Apple’s commitment to building a stronger retail footprint.
Boosting ‘Make in India’ Production
Apple’s manufacturing presence in India is expanding, with one in five iPhones now made locally. The company operates five factories in India and is investing an estimated $2.5 billion to raise production capacity from 40 million to 60 million units annually. This shift helps Apple diversify away from its dependence on China.
Navigating Global Challenges
Globally, Apple faces sluggish smartphone sales and competition in China. Revenue from China grew 4.4% in April–June 2025, its first rise in two years, but rivalry with Xiaomi and others remains intense. Meanwhile, Apple is also responding to US political pressure by investing heavily at home, pledging $600 billion in US investments over four years.
What’s Next for Apple
Apple’s much-awaited annual fall event on September 9 will showcase its latest products. The company is expected to unveil new iPhones, Apple Watches, and AI-driven features. Reports suggest Apple may also introduce a slimmer “iPhone Air”, aligning with its popular Air product lineup.
