Apple is reportedly preparing to introduce a more affordable version of its Vision headset, expected to be priced around $2,000. This move follows the limited market appeal of the premium Vision Pro, which debuted earlier in 2024 at $3,499. The upcoming model is anticipated to have downgraded components and materials, such as a less powerful A-series processor, possibly the A18 Pro, and more plastic in the design.

Apple Can Launch Cheaper Version Of Vision Pro At Rs 1.7 Lakh

Why a Cheaper Version?

The decision to fast-track the development of a lower-cost Vision headset comes as Apple looks to broaden accessibility. The high cost of the Vision Pro has restricted its appeal to a niche audience, prompting the company to shift its focus toward a more budget-friendly alternative. Earlier reports suggested that Apple had paused work on the Vision Pro to prioritize this new variant.

What to Expect from the New Vision Headset

While the Vision Pro is equipped with the advanced M2 chip, the more affordable version will likely use a downgraded A-series processor, comparable in performance to the M1 chip. The design is also expected to feature more plastic, replacing the premium aluminum and glass materials found in the high-end model.

One significant feature that may be omitted is the EyeSight technology, which displays the user’s eyes through external lenticular displays. This feature is expected to be excluded to reduce costs, though it added a unique interactive element to the Vision Pro.

Apple’s Strategy and Vision Pro 2

Despite these compromises, Apple expects the new headset to sell twice as well as the Vision Pro. Looking further ahead, Apple is reportedly working on the Vision Pro 2, slated for release in 2026, which will feature a faster processor and other advanced technologies.

By launching a more affordable model, Apple aims to make its Vision headset more accessible to a wider audience while continuing to push innovation with future high-end models.
