Akasa Air is taking its first step into international skies by launching direct flights between Kochi and Jeddah. Beginning July 13, 2025, the airline will operate four round-trip flights every week, following two special departures scheduled for June 29 and July 6.
This route is a key part of Akasa’s growth strategy, designed to serve Indian expatriates and religious pilgrims travelling to Saudi Arabia.

Tapping into a High-Demand Corridor
Saudi Arabia is home to a large Indian community and is a prominent destination for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. By launching services to Jeddah—gateway to Mecca—Akasa aims to serve both religious and professional travellers with affordable fares and reliable schedules.
The new Kochi–Jeddah flights will depart on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays, with flight timings catering to both business and leisure needs.
Flight Schedule and Aircraft Details
Akasa will operate the Kochi–Jeddah service using Boeing 737 Max aircraft, known for fuel efficiency and low operating costs. The aircraft will offer an all-economy 186-seat layout to keep fares competitive.
Sample schedule:
- Saturdays and Mondays: Depart Kochi at 6:10 PM; arrive in Jeddah at 9:55 PM. Return at 1:00 AM; arrive in Kochi at 6:45 AM.
- Sundays: Two services at 3:00 AM and 8:30 PM.
Strategic Expansion from Kochi
Kochi, emerging as a Tier 2 aviation hub, is a natural choice for Akasa’s first international route. With rising demand for Gulf-bound travel from Kerala, the city offers the perfect launchpad for further expansion in the Middle East.
Akasa already serves Abu Dhabi and Doha, and the Kochi–Jeddah route strengthens its Gulf footprint.
Focus on Affordability and Comfort
Akasa is known for offering a no-frills, high-efficiency flying experience at low fares. Its entry into the international market is driven by the same vision—making travel to Saudi Arabia accessible for all, especially for working professionals and religious travellers.
By maintaining competitive pricing and punctual operations, Akasa is poised to disrupt the India–Gulf aviation market.
Looking Ahead
Akasa Air’s Kochi–Jeddah service marks the beginning of its global journey. With strong demand and a growing fleet, the airline is likely to expand into more Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in the coming years.
As more Indian travellers seek budget-friendly international options, Akasa’s efficient model and customer-first approach could redefine air travel across the region.
