Airtel To Discontinue Rs. 99 Plan In Seven More Circles
After being eliminated in the two circles of Odisha and Haryana for several months, Bharti Airtel announced that the Rs 99 minimum recharge plan has been eliminated in seven additional circles. The action caused the cost of the entry-level plan to increase to Rs 155.
Users of the Rs 99-pack received a set amount of talk time, which was deducted from the balance based on how long each call lasted. It was good for 28 days. Since November of last year, Airtel has started to abandon the plan.
Users will need to pay Rs 155 for the entry-level unlimited calling pack once the Rs 99-plan is implemented. Additionally, it has a 28-day validity and includes 300 SMS and 1 GB of internet data.
As per a spokesperson of Airtel, “Customer can now use this plan with no constraints. We believe this plan will prove greater flexibility, convenience and superior value.”
Airtel announced that it has discontinued the metered tariff in order to improve the customer experience and replaced it with a Rs. 155 entry-level plan with unlimited voice, 1 GB of data, and 300 SMS.
57% More Tarriff To Be Paid By Customers
Customers of Airtel who recharged with the Rs 99-pack would suffer as a result of the change in that they would have to pay 57 percent more each month. But for the business, this would mean a rise in the average revenue per user (ARPU).
In November, we reported that Airtel’s minimum monthly charges have been increased by 57% to reach Rs 155.
This new tariff has been deployed across Odisha and Harayana as of now but is expected to be rolled out across India, very soon.
Earlier, this minimum monthly plan was costing Rs 99. We had also predicted that Airtel will soon abolish all under-Rs 100 plans for 28 days validity, to make sure that the average user spends atleast Rs 100 or above for using Airtel.
