The plan includes unlimited voice calling and a few additional benefits.

Although there was no formal announcement, the plan is live and available on Airtel’s website and app.

Airtel Quietly Launches ₹189 Prepaid Plan with Unlimited Calls and Basic Benefits

It targets users who want a basic, low-cost plan under ₹200 to keep their mobile number active.

The ₹189 plan offers 21 days of service validity.

During this time, users get unlimited calls to all networks, 1GB of mobile data, and 300 SMS.

The plan is not aimed at heavy data users or people who frequently stream content.

Users with high data needs must purchase separate top-up data packs.

This move seems strategic as Airtel works to increase its average revenue per user (ARPU) and retain low-spending customers.

The plan is especially suitable for secondary SIM users or light smartphone users in rural or semi-urban areas.

Comparisons will likely be made with similar low-price plans from competitors like Reliance Jio.

Airtel Expands Budget Plans: ₹189 vs ₹199 Recharge, Plus New OTT-Packed Options

Airtel now offers two main sub-₹200 options: the ₹189 plan and the ₹199 plan.

The ₹199 plan provides similar benefits but with 28 days validity, offering a longer service period for ₹10 more.

Airtel has recently expanded its prepaid offerings to include content-based plans with OTT benefits.

New plans starting at ₹279 include access to platforms like Netflix, Zee5, and JioHotstar, targeting users interested in entertainment services.

The ₹189 plan has its own purpose—it helps budget-conscious users stay connected through voice and basic usage without paying for full monthly packs.

While it may not suit data-heavy users, it fills a necessary gap in Airtel’s prepaid offerings.
