Meta Updates Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed the new functionality on Instagram’s Meta Channel. As per Zuckerberg, “New multimodal AI feature in beta on Ray-Ban recognizes and can tell you about landmarks.”

Users can discover more about them by merely glancing at landmarks and tapping a button on the smart glasses. Before that, in December, Meta made smart glasses capable of object recognition.

Users must register for an early access program to use these features, which are presently in beta and only available in the US.

Launched in 2023, the second version of Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses comes with 150 customizable frame and lens combinations. The upgraded model has a 12 MP camera sensor and better speaker performance.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 Platform powers it, processing images, movies, and audio. In comparison to the original generation, the most recent model is lighter and slimmer. With the travel case, the battery life can last up to 36 hours.
