Jio and SpaceX Join Forces for Starlink in India
Reliance Jio has announced a strategic partnership with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to introduce Starlink satellite internet services in India. This agreement, however, depends on regulatory clearance before SpaceX can officially operate in the country. Under the deal, Jio will distribute Starlink hardware via its retail and online platforms while also offering installation support.

To achieve mass adoption, SpaceX may need to introduce subsidized pricing or partner with government-backed digital inclusion programs.
- Regulatory Hurdles: SpaceX must secure clearances for spectrum allocation, local data storage, security regulations, and landing rights. It previously faced backlash for accepting pre-orders without obtaining the necessary licences, leading to a temporary halt of its services in India.
