Starting November 1, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is rolling out a major reform that allows Aadhaar users to update personal details online—including name, address, date of birth, and mobile number—without needing to visit an enrolment centre.

The new automated verification system will validate data by linking Aadhaar to existing government databases such as PAN, passport, driving license, ration card, and birth certificates. This move will drastically reduce manual errors, save time, and enhance the security of the Aadhaar ecosystem.
Revised Fee Structure for Aadhaar Services
While online updates will be free until June 14, 2026, enrolment centres will now follow a revised fee structure:
- Demographic updates: ₹75
- Biometric updates (fingerprint, iris, photo): ₹125
- Mandatory biometric updates for children (ages 5–7 and 15–17): Free
- Document updates: ₹75 (free online until June 14)
- Aadhaar print: ₹40
- Home enrolment: ₹700 for the first person and ₹350 per additional person
Aadhaar-PAN Linking Deadline Announced
The government has set December 31, 2025, as the final date for Aadhaar-PAN linking. Failure to link will result in the PAN becoming inactive from January 1, 2026. For new PAN applicants, Aadhaar authentication is now mandatory, reinforcing India’s move toward unified digital identity verification.
Simplified KYC Norms for Faster Verification
In line with the Aadhaar updates, banks and financial institutions can now complete Know Your Customer (KYC) verification through Aadhaar OTP, Video KYC, or in-person verification. This makes the process faster, paperless, and more secure for users, promoting ease of business and financial inclusion.
Banks to Allow Up to Four Nominees per Account
From November 1, bank account holders can add up to four nominees for savings accounts, fixed deposits, lockers, and safe custody articles. Users can assign specific shares or percentages totaling 100% among nominees. The new rule ensures smoother claim settlements and better clarity in financial succession planning.
