Instant messaging giant WhatsApp is planning to introduce several features keeping in mind user privacy, connectivity and overall user experience.

1. WhatsApp usernames: When we want to connect with someone on WhatsApp, we need their phone numbers necessarily, this leads to the discomfort many user face in sharing or asking for phone numbers. With the intent to solve this, WhatsApp is coming up with the usernames, this will allow users to connect with each other without the need to share phone numbers. Fostering an overall safer online environment, this feature furthers the extra layer of security as well as control over the personal contact details. Further enhancing the privacy and flexibility is that users shall be able to change their usernames.
2. Screen Sharing: Another feather in the cap is the screen sharing while doing the video calls. Screen sharing allows collaboration and communication by allowing participants to view each other’s screens. This feature shall be made available on mobile as well as Desktop app, both.
3. Password reminders: In order to help the users to manage their security settings better, WhatsApp shall be implementing the password reminders in order to have an end-to-end encryption of backup data to ensure that users never forget their passcodes.
4. Language and message draft filter: This feature will provide flexibility to the users to ability to filter their messages based on language and draft status.
5. Status archive feature: The WhatsApp Business app shall see the status updates being archived automatically after 24 hours. The updates will be saved in your device till a period of 30 days and this can be used to create ads.
6. Share status updates to Instagram: WhatsApp’s new feature will let the users post their WhatsApp Status to Instagram without actually moving away from the app. With this new feature, WhatsApp users will be able to simultaneously update their WhatsApp Status and Instagram Story in a single tap.
7. Share music audio while video call : The latest beta version for Android, 2.23.26.18, reveals WhatsApp’s attempts to elevate its video calling experience by the introduction of ability to share the music while audio calls. Aligning with the existing tend already set by Apple’s SharePlay in collaborative communication space, this shall facilitate real-time discussions and shared multimedia experiences.
