6 New Airports To Be Launched In Bihar Under UDAN Scheme: Check Cities

An MOU between the State government and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has been approved by the Bihar Cabinet.

Six small airports will be developed under the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme, according to this agreement.

Bihar Cabinet Approves MoU with AAI to Develop Six Airports Under UDAN Scheme

Madhubani, Birpur (Supaul), Munger, Valmikinagar (West Champaran), Muzaffarpur, and Saharsa are the locations of the six airports that will be built.

The decision will enable the construction of essential airport infrastructure at these locations, said Additional Chief Secretary S. Siddharth.

An initial budget of ₹25 crore has been approved by the Cabinet for each of the six airports.

The Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) Value Added Tax (VAT) was lowered by the Cabinet earlier this month from 29% to 4%.

Bihar Cuts Aviation Fuel Tax to Boost Flight Frequency and Regional Air Connectivity

The goal of this cut is to increase flight frequency in the state and encourage aircraft refueling at Patna.

Additionally, the goal of this act is to increase Bihar’s air connectivity competitiveness with its neighboring states.

The ₹1,200 crore new terminal at Patna airport was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month.

It is anticipated that the terminal will serve one crore passengers a year and promote the expansion of tourism.

At Bihta Airport, PM Modi also laid the cornerstone for a civil enclave worth ₹1,410 crore.

A contract extension for 1,717 Special Auxiliary Police (SAP) officers for the 2025–2026 fiscal year was approved by the Cabinet.

These SAP employees are former Indian Army soldiers.

The Indian Railways has announced many special trains to ensure that people do not face inconvenience in train travel during the holidays.

Under the same initiative, Northern Railways has announced special trains including train number 02270 Lucknow to Chhapra Vande Bharat Special Train and train number 02269 Chhapra to Lucknow Vande Bharat Special Train.
