Hyundai is working on the third-generation Creta, which is set to launch in 2027. While official details are limited, the new model, internally codenamed SX3, is expected to carry over the current 115hp, 1.5-liter petrol engine, with a possible upgrade to a 1.5-liter turbo petrol or a 1.5-liter diesel engine.

Hyundai’s Creta Hybrid: A Leap Towards Electrification with Advanced Safety Features
One significant change could be the introduction of a hybrid powertrain, marking Hyundai’s entry into the hybrid SUV market. The Creta Hybrid may become the first hybrid model from the brand. This launch will follow the unveiling of the Hyundai Ni1i SUV, which will sit between the Alcazar and Tucson in the lineup. The Ni1i will offer a 1.5-liter engine paired with an electric motor, showcasing Hyundai’s push towards electrification.
The next-gen Creta will feature enhanced safety technologies, including ADAS level 2 safety features, making it a more attractive option for customers. The electric version of the SUV has already been equipped with advanced features, which could make their way to the new Creta as well.
Hyundai Creta Facelift, Hybrid Plans, and KIA’s Hybrid Seltos: The Future of SUVs
Hyundai may also give the Creta a mid-life facelift by 2027, although details on this are still scarce. Additionally, the hybrid powertrain could be a key differentiator, potentially following a similar system used in the Ford’s Range Extender, where a small petrol engine supports the EV motor to extend the vehicle’s range.
Internationally, models like the KIA Seltos Hybrid are undergoing trials, hinting at similar plans for Hyundai’s models. The Seltos Hybrid features a new four-wheel-drive (E-AWD) system, designed for markets with a preference for all-wheel-drive vehicles, particularly Europe. While the launch of the Creta Hybrid in India remains unconfirmed, Hyundai’s plans for hybrid vehicles could be followed by KIA’s launch of a hybrid Seltos soon after.
