Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has issued a recall of 2,555 units of its Alto K10 model, citing a potential defect in the vehicle’s steering gearbox. This defect could impact the car’s steerability, prompting the automaker to take swift action to ensure customer safety.
Details of the Recall
The recall was announced after Maruti Suzuki identified a suspected flaw in the steering gearbox of certain Alto K10 vehicles. The company has advised owners of the affected vehicles to refrain from driving or using their cars until the defective part is replaced. This recall is the latest in a series of safety-related actions by Maruti Suzuki, following earlier recalls of other popular models.
How to Check if Your Car is Affected
Owners of Alto K10 vehicles can easily check if their car is part of the recall by visiting the ‘Important Customer Info’ section on Maruti Suzuki’s official website. By entering the chassis number of their vehicle, customers can determine whether their car is affected and needs a replacement of the steering gearbox. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki’s authorized dealer workshops will proactively contact the owners of the impacted vehicles to arrange for the free replacement of the defective part.
Previous Recalls by Maruti Suzuki
This recall follows a similar action earlier this year when Maruti Suzuki recalled 11,851 units of the Baleno and 4,190 units of the WagonR. The previous recall, which occurred in March, was due to a possible defect in the fuel pump motor of these vehicles. In some cases, this defect could have led to issues with engine stalling or starting, prompting Maruti Suzuki to take precautionary measures.
