Maruti Faces More Than 2 Lakh Pending Bookings
Maruti Suzuki is increasing vehicle production ahead of the festive season as its pending customer bookings have crossed the 2 lakh mark.
As of October 1, the country’s largest carmaker had more than 2 lakh bookings waiting to be fulfilled. The company is now working to increase production and improve vehicle availability as demand strengthens across several segments.

Brezza Drives A Major Part Of The Backlog
The updated Maruti Brezza has emerged as one of the biggest contributors to the company’s pending orders.
Bookings for the Brezza 2026 have already crossed 95,000 units and are expected to reach 1 lakh shortly.
Maruti sold more than 15,000 Brezza units in September, with production being increased at its newly commissioned Kharkhoda plant in Haryana to meet demand.
The Brezza’s booking mix includes 38% turbo-petrol variants, 40% CNG variants and 22% 1.5-litre petrol variants.
New Kharkhoda Plant Helps Increase Production
Maruti is using its new manufacturing capacity at Kharkhoda to increase supplies of high-demand models.
The company currently has only around 17 days of vehicle stock across its dealer network, making production ramp-up important as the festive buying season gathers momentum.
Maruti has indicated that both production quantity and quality remain priorities as it works to reduce waiting periods.
September Sales Jump 30%
Maruti Suzuki recorded a strong performance in September, with total domestic sales including sales to other original equipment manufacturers rising 30% year-on-year to 1,91,794 units.
The company is seeing stronger demand across both small cars and SUVs.
Entry-level hatchback sales increased 86% during the first half of FY27, while mid-hatchback sales rose 40%. SUV sales also increased 56% during the same period.
Exports Also Reach Record Levels
Maruti’s export business continues to expand alongside domestic demand.
The company exported 44,219 vehicles in September, an increase of around 5% compared with the same month last year.
Exports during the first half of FY27 reached a record 2.32 lakh vehicles, representing 12.2% year-on-year growth.
Maruti said it accounted for around 52% of India’s total passenger vehicle exports between April and August.
Baleno Also Gets Strong Response
The refreshed Maruti Baleno has also received a strong response from customers.
The model recorded sales of 25,000 units during its first month after the update, adding further pressure to Maruti’s production and supply network.
With multiple models seeing increased demand simultaneously, the company is focusing on expanding output before the festive season reaches its peak.
Festive Demand Expected To Remain Strong
Maruti expects demand to remain healthy during the festive period despite concerns around rainfall deficits in parts of the country.
However, the company expects the industry’s growth rate during the second half of FY27 to be lower than the first half.
For Maruti, the key challenge will be converting strong bookings into actual deliveries. Increased production at Kharkhoda and improved supply availability will therefore be crucial in reducing the current backlog.
Summary
Maruti Suzuki is ramping up production as its customer booking backlog crosses 2 lakh ahead of the festive season. The Brezza 2026 accounts for nearly 95,000 bookings and is approaching the 1 lakh mark. Maruti is increasing output at its Kharkhoda plant while September domestic sales rose 30%. Exports also reached a record 2.32 lakh vehicles during H1 FY27.
