Yes, it is one day more than in 2023.
Stock Market Holidays In 2024
During January, Dalal Street will have a single holiday that too on January 26 for Republic Day, as per the calendar released by the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
In February it gets tougher as there are no designated share market holidays.
It appears that March will fill this gap as it has three holidays on the 8th Maha Shivaratri, 25th Holi and 28th Good Friday.
When it comes to April, the street will have holidays on 10th for the celebration of Eid Al Fitr, 14th Ambedkar Jayanti, 17th Ram Navami and 21 Mahavir Jayanti.
The following month, May will have a solitary holiday on May 1 for the occasion of Maharashtra Day.
June will also have a single holiday on 17th when the stock market will take a break for Bakri Id/Eid ul-Adha.
During July, only one holiday is designated on the 17th for the celebration of Muharram.
Following suit, August also embarks for a single holiday for the celebration of Independence Day on 15th August.
Then the start of the Hindu festival season is marked with the arrival of Bappa on September 7th for Ganesh Chaturthi.
October has two holidays which feature a holiday on October 2 for Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and the other falls for the celebration of Dussehra/Dasara on October 13.
During November, stock is closed on the 1st and 2nd for the celebration of the festival of light, Diwali.
The next holiday is on November 15 for Guru Nanak’s Birthday.
While reaching to the end of the year, the stock market would be witnessing its final holiday of the year on December 25 in celebration of Christmas.
Schedule For Muhurat Trading & Exceptions
Please note here that the Muhurat Trading will be scheduled on Friday, November 01, 2024.
When it comes to timings of Muhurat Trading, it shall be notified subsequently.
It is noteworthy here NSE remains closed on all Saturdays and Sundays besides the list of festival holidays.
Out of the above list, some holidays fall on Saturday And Sunday.
For instance, in 2024, April 14, Dr.Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti is falling on Sunday.
Similarly, April 21, Mahavir Jayanti Sunday, September 07, Ganesh Chaturthi Saturday, October 13, Dussehra Sunday, November 02, Diwali-Balipratipada on Saturday.
If any changes happen in the above list of holidays then the Exchanges will have a separate circular issued in advance.
