Special Covid Guidelines Issued In Mumbai For Diwali: Check The New Covid Rules

The first case of COVID was reported back in January 2020, and while 2022 ends in two months, there is no news of the disease being eradicated.

Some new variants of the Omicron disease have been reported in Mumbai, and therefore, the Municipal Corporation has issued preventive guidelines for citizens.

These guidelines have been issued especially as festivities of Diwali are right around the corner.

17.7 Percent Increase In Covid Numbers in Maharashtra

There has been an increase of 17.7 percent in COVID-19 patients in Mahrashtra, as compared to last month. In many regions of the state, cases of new sub-variants of Omicron, including BQ.1 (the US variant), BA.2.3.20, and XBB, a recombinant of BA.2.75 and BJ.1, have been reported.

Keeping this and the upcoming Diwali festival season in mind, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has released preventive guidelines and precautions.

As per BMC officials, “Considering the rising trend of Covid cases in the second week of October and in view of the upcoming festival season, this is a critical period as there may be a tendency to ignore Covid-safe behaviour during festivals, due to large gatherings, events, fairs, crowds in enclosed and non-ventilated spaces.”

Guidelines Issued By Mumbai Municipal Corporation

Here are the guidelines issued by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation

  • If you haven’t received the shots, get them now. Consider taking boosters if your immune system is weak or at risk because they can increase your resistance to the virus.
  • Maintain good ventilation indoors because enclosed spaces encourage the spread of viruses.
  • Stay away from symptomatic patients up close.
  • Regularly wash your hands to maintain good hygiene.
  • When sniffling and coughing, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or a handkerchief.
  • In crowded areas, wearing masks is essential to preventing the spread of infection.
  • As soon as you notice any symptoms, you should get tested because early detection is essential.
  • Try to keep your distance from others while you wait for the results so you can stop the spread of infection.
  • Patients who are facing breathing problems, those with compromised immune systems, and those who have recently travelled to nations where coronavirus infection is common should seek immediate medical attention.
