COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place but masks will not be mandatory for everyone.

Education Minister of Maharashtra Varsha Gaikwad has said that schools in the state will reopen from June 15 after a long summer and COVID-19 break.

Return After A Long Gap

She said that students in Classes 1 and 2 have not been able to go to schools due to the pandemic for the last two years.

COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place but masks will not be mandatory for everyone.

Fresh Standard Operating Procedures, SOPs pertaining to the virus are also expected to be out very soon.

Worrying Trend

Gaikwad said that the government is keeping an eye on the COVID situation and the rising cases.

Most of the cases have been reported in Mumbai that crossed the 800 case mark on Saturday and then again on Sunday.

The State Government has recommended masks and has alerted health care centres to prepare for another surge in cases.

The Good News

Thankfully, so far the severity is not as bad and the number of hospitalizations continue to be on the lower side.

BMC has shared that 95% of the cases were asymptomatic.

However the public shouldn’t let their guard down and responsibly follow Covid-appropriate behavior such as maintaining hygiene, wearing masks and social distancing.
