On April 1, the National Oil Marketing companies increased  commercial 19-kg LPG cylinder cost by Rs 250 which will be  effective from Friday.

LPG Cylinders Price Hike

With this update, now LPG cylinders will cost Rs 2253 in Delhi, as per the report

If we see in the past, the price of a 19-kg LPG cylinder price hiked by Rs 346/cylinder in the past two months.

Earlier, the rate of a 19 kg commercial cylinder was increased by Rs 105 on March 1.

But, then they reduced the prices by Rs 9 on March 22.

Domestic LPG Cylinders Prices Unchanged

It is noteworthy here that this increase in prices has not happened in domestic LPG cylinders.

This price hike is applicable for commercial gas cylinders only.

With this change, the same cylinder will now cost Rs 2,351 in Kolkata, Rs 2,205 in Mumbai and Rs 2,406 in Chennai.

Please note that the prices of LPG cylinders are revised monthly for all states and union territories in India.

How Does This Affect?

This increase in prices would definitely affect the restaurants, eateries, tea stalls and others that constitute, as they form the largest user segment of the 19 kg cylinder.

If we see closely, the prices of petrol, diesel, and LPG are being increased continuously after the assembly elections held in five states.

To start with, the subsidized domestic LPG cylinder increased by Rs 50 on March 22.

There was no change in the rate of domestic LPG cylinders after 6 October 2021.

So from today, domestic LPG cylinders are available for Rs 949.50 in Delhi, Rs 976 in Kolkata, Rs 949.50 in Mumbai, and Rs 965.50 in Chennai.

You can see the price difference, this is because LPG cylinder prices vary from one state to another, due to applicability of local taxes.

Although, the center provides a small subsidy to select customers to make up for the higher price arising from freight charges.

As part of this government-subsidy scheme, each household is eligible for 12 cylinders per year.

But, the amount of the subsidy provided by the government varies from month to month.

The data provided by the ministry of petroleum and natural gas indicates that there has been a consistent increase in active domestic customers across India.

There are 29.11 crore active domestic LPG consumers, including the PMUY customers As of July 1, 2021 in the country.
