Kia Says No More Diesel! Seltos, Carnival Diesel Variants Discontinued In India

Some of the variants of Seltos SUV and Carnival MPV shall soon be discontinued by Kia India. Kia has decided to discontinue the mid-range HTK+ diesel-automatic trim offered on Seltos SUV and the base variant of the seven-seater premium MPV Carnival.

Kia Refused Bookings For The Cars

The Korean Auto-giant has refused to take the bookings for these variants from the dealers and it is believed that the carmaker might have pulled out the variants due to low demand.

The Kia Seltos HTK+ diesel automatic variant was priced at ?14.25 lakh (ex-showroom). The Kia Carnival base variant diesel automatic was available for ?25.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

Increased Costs For Alternate Variants

So, those customers who wanted to go for the HTK+ variant might now have to go for the GTX+ automatic variant which costs ?3.7 lakh more and is priced at ?17.95 lakh (ex-showroom).

Also, the price for the new base variant of the Carnival MPV, which is now Prestige trim seven-seater unit, is ?29.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This means that customers shall now have to pay almost ?4.5 lakh more than the HTK+ diesel automatic variant.

Mated to a 6-speed torque converter, the HTK+ diesel-automatic variant of the Seltos SUV came with 1.5-litre diesel engine. A maximum output of 115PS and 250 Nm of peak torque shall be given by the engine. 16-inch alloy wheels, 8-inch touchscreen system and push-button start/stop are some of the other features offered by HTK+ Seltos.

Mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, the Carnival MPV is available with a single 2.2-litre diesel engine. A maximum output of 200PS and 440 Nm of peak torque shall be generated by the engine.

Offer features like 3-zone climate control, 18-inch alloy wheels, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a rearview camera came up with the discontinued premium trim of Kia.
