Kia Carens

Kia’s latest 7-seater MPV, the Carens, will launch in India in February 2022.

Official bookings have already started, with deliveries expected from February-March.

It will be based on a modified SP2 platform that underpins the Seltos.

It comes with 3 engine options – a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel and a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol.

The same engine line-up is offered with the Seltos as well as Hyundai Creta.

It will be offered in 5 trims- Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury and Luxury Plus.

Color variants include Imperial Blue, Moss Brown, Sparkling Silver, Intense Red, Glacier White Pearl, Clear White, Gravity Grey & Aurora Black Pearl.

Prices haven’t been officially announced yet, but are expected to fall between Rs 13-17 lakh.

Maruti Baleno Facelift

The heavily updated version of the Baleno hatchback will also arrive in February.

It keeps the existing platform but steel quality used in the body panels and in the platform sees an improvement.

The new model features a larger, free-standing touchscreen infotainment system with an all-new interface.

It comes with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with an e-SIM based connected car tech.

The all-new interior also includes a HUD (Heads-Up Display) and six airbags.

Engine options remain the same and it could get a Swift-like single clutch automatic or AMT.

Prices will be unveiled in February.

Skoda Slavia

The new Slavia midsize sedan is set to arrive before the end of this financial year, with deliveries to commence in March.

It is based on the VW Group’s MQB AO IN platform that underpins the Skoda Kushaq and the VW Taigun.

It will compete against the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.

It will be offered in 3 trim levels – Active, Ambition and Style.

Two engine options are offered- 

  • A 115bhp, 1.0L turbocharged petrol 
  • A 150bhp, 1.5L turbocharged petrol

Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque convertor automatic and a 7-speed DSG automatic.

Additionally, Skoda claims the Slavia to have best-in-class boot space of 520-litres.

It is expected to cost between Rs 10-16 lakh.

2022 MG ZS EV Facelift

The popular MG ZS EV gets a mid-life facelift to be launched in February.

It gets some big changes inside the cabin, but the biggest change lies under the hood. 

It gets an all new 51 kWh battery that offers a range of around 480 km.

This is a significant upgrade from the current model which has a 44.5 kWh battery pack providing a claimed range of 419 km.

It could also get a bigger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system over the 8-inch unit in the current version.

It will also feature a digital instrument console and a wireless phone charger.

It borrows an AI assistant and ADAS from the Astor SUV.

It is expected to cost between Rs 22-25 lakh.

Toyota Hilux

The India-spec Hilux lifestyle pick-up can be pre booked online or at authorised Toyota dealerships by paying a token amount of Rs 1 lakh.

The prices will be unveiled in March.

It is based on the IMV-2 (Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle) platform that also underpins the Fortuner and the Innova Crysta.

It is powered by a 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engine with power output of 204 bhp and 420 Nm of torque.

Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. 

With an automatic gearbox, the engine offers 500 Nm of torque.

The car will be offered in both 4×2 and 4×4 systems.

The 4WD (four-wheel drive) system will come with electronic differential lock.
