Another method of scamming people has been discovered now, and that is through the online social networking app, Whatsapp.
The fraudsters are using the Whatsapp scam to steal personal information from users, including bank account and card details.

New Scam On Whatsapp
The new scam goes by the name Rediroff.com and has been doing the rounds of the internet for a few days now through a link. Windows PCs, iOS, and Android smartphones are all vulnerable to the spam link.
Reportedly, it has affected a huge number of people during the holiday season as it boasted of offering expensive gifts.
Scammers send this link to the Whatsapp users and after they click on it, they are redirected to a website. On this site, they are asked to fill out their personal details and confidential information as well, such as name, age, address, bank information, and other personal data.
Once these details are filled out by the users, they are leaked to the fraudsters and there is no way of changing this. The scammers are then free to misuse all the information, conduct fraudulent transactions, and any other illegal activities.
Any unwanted applications can also be installed by the scammers on the user’s device.
How To Protect Yourself From This Scam?
What should one do to be safe? If you get a message with a Rediroff.ru link in it, be sure to report it as scam and delete it. If you do accidentally click on the link, make sure to check your devices for any malware or virus.
